Dunbar High School

Built as Dunbar High School in Lexington, NC, this historic campus served generations of students and stood as a cornerstone of the community. The site is now being adaptively reused into a vibrant mixed-use development featuring residential and community-focused spaces. The project will offer 66 market-rate apartments alongside approximately 25,000 square feet of commercial space, which will be leased to the City of Lexington as a community center. Amenities will include a modernized indoor basketball gym, new outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, a running path, outdoor grills, and several acres of ballfields—enhancing both the community and residential experience. This project marks Foss & Company’s seventh collaboration with the development team, further strengthening long-term partnerships, and Foss & Company is proud to provide the North Carolina Historic Tax Equity for this project.
